The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has pledged to strengthen staff welfare and administrative efficiency as part of efforts to boost conservation and tourism performance across the country.

Opening a working session for human resources and administration officers in Arusha on Wednesday, TANAPA Commissioner for Conservation, CPA Musa Kuji, said the authority is determined to tackle challenges affecting its employees in order to enhance their morale and effectiveness.

“Human capital is our greatest asset. We must ensure our officers and rangers work in an environment that motivates them to deliver. Without this, it will be difficult to achieve TANAPA’s mandate of conservation, tourism development and community service,” Kuji said.

The meeting, attended by senior officials including Acting Director of Corporate Services, Assistant Conservation Commissioner Abdallah Kiwango, Head of Administration Peter Butiku, and Head of Human Resources and Personnel Cecilia Mtanga, focused on strategies to create a supportive and enabling workplace for TANAPA’s workforce.

Kuji stressed that the authority’s success depends on ensuring staff at all levels from headquarters to the field—are equipped and motivated to carry out their duties.

“This session is not just about policies; it is about practical solutions that address real challenges faced by our teams,” he added.

TANAPA’s Human Resources and Administration Department has been described as central to the authority’s mission, tasked with attracting and retaining skilled professionals while safeguarding the wellbeing of employees.

The Arusha workshop is expected to produce actionable resolutions that will guide TANAPA in enhancing its internal systems and reinforcing its role as a leading conservation institution in the region.
