More than 350 students from Baobab Secondary School, Bagamoyo Secondary School, and Kisarawe II Secondary School have toured the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) headquarters in Dar es Salaam, where they were introduced to the Central Bank’s pivotal role in managing and safeguarding the country’s economy.
The educational visit provided students with an opportunity to learn about the key functions of the Bank, including the formulation and implementation of monetary policy, maintaining price stability, and promoting a sound financial system.
BoT experts guided the students through sessions on identifying security features in Tanzanian banknotes and the importance of proper currency handling to maintain the quality and integrity of the notes in circulation.
The students also toured the Bank of Tanzania Museum, where they explored the evolution of money in Tanzania, the history of the Central Bank since its establishment in 1966, and major financial sector reforms that have shaped the country’s economic development.
According to BoT officials, the outreach initiative aims to enhance financial literacy among young people and inspire them to understand the critical role played by the Central Bank in supporting sustainable economic growth.
“The Bank believes that increasing awareness among the youth about financial systems and monetary policy builds a generation that values economic discipline and responsibility,” said one of the officials during the tour.
The visit was part of the Bank’s ongoing public education efforts to promote knowledge of its operations and strengthen financial awareness among students and the general public.
