President Samia Suluhu Hassan has promised a “Mama Goal” reward of five million Tanzanian shillings for every goal scored by Tanzanian clubs in the early stages of international football competitions.

Simba SC and Yanga SC are representing Tanzania in the CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Gerson Msigwa, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Spokesperson, said the President is keen to see all Tanzanian teams perform well and achieve victory on the continental stage.

He explained that this year, the “Mama Goal” reward begins at five million shillings per goal during the preliminary rounds.

The reward rises to ten million shillings in the quarter-finals, twenty million in the semi-finals, with an even larger prize to be announced for the finals. Penalty goals will also count toward the reward.

“Each goal scored in the preliminary stage will earn five million shillings. Two goals will mean ten million, and the rewards will increase as teams advance. Penalties are counted as regular goals,” Msigwa said.

Today, Yanga SC faces Wiliete in their preliminary CAF Champions League match in Angola, while Simba SC will play against Gaborone in Botswana.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Azam FC will take on Al Merriekh in South Sudan, and Singida Black Stars will face Rayon Sport in Rwanda.

The initiative highlights the President’s commitment to supporting Tanzanian football and motivating local teams to excel internationally.
