The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has announced the opening of the application window for the second cohort of its FinTech Regulatory Sandbox, inviting financial technology companies and service providers to apply before October 23, 2025.

According to the central bank, the sandbox provides a controlled environment where innovators can test financial products, services, and business models that are not currently covered under existing regulatory frameworks.

The initiative aims to promote innovation while safeguarding financial stability and consumer protection.

Applications must be submitted online through the BoT FinTech Regulatory, in line with the Bank of Tanzania (FinTech Regulatory Sandbox) Regulations, 2024.

The bank has also published detailed guidelines and participation criteria on its official website.

“The Sandbox serves as a learning platform for both innovators and regulators, enabling the development of safe, inclusive, and technology-driven financial solutions,” BoT said in a statement.

The Bank further noted that it reserves the right to publish relevant information about applicants on its website for knowledge-sharing and collaboration with other international regulatory agencies, without disclosing any proprietary or intellectual property details.
