Tanzanian swimmer Adam Kitururu is poised to showcase his talent today, August 11, 2025, at the prestigious World Masters Swimming Championships currently taking place in Singapore.

As Tanzania’s sole representative at this major international event, Kitururu will compete against top swimmers from around the globe.

In an interview with The Respondent Online, Kitururu revealed that his primary objective is to improve his personal best times during the competition.

He confirmed that his preparations have been thorough and that after spending several days acclimatizing to the local environment, he feels confident and ready to deliver a strong performance.

“I thank God for a safe arrival and good health. I have completed my final preparations and am fully committed to representing my country with pride. I humbly request the prayers and support of all Tanzanians as I aim to start the competition on a strong note,” said Kitururu.

Ndurumah Majembe, Chairman of Masters Swimming Tanzania under the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA), expressed optimism about Kitururu’s chances and wished him success.

Majembe highlighted that participation in the World Masters Championships offers valuable exposure and opportunities for Tanzanian swimmers to gain international recognition and access to resources provided by the World Masters Swimming Federation, which caters to athletes aged 25 and above.

“While many swimmers qualified this year, only one could attend due to work commitments and financial limitations. Nonetheless, we remain determined to expand Tanzania’s presence in future competitions and maximize the opportunities these events provide,” Majembe stated.
