The Government has affirmed its full preparedness to host the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to officially kick off on August 2.

Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, and Coordination), Dr. Jim Yonazi, made the announcement following an infrastructure inspection tour in Dar es Salaam.

He confirmed that preparations are at an advanced stage and that all selected venues are ready to accommodate the continental tournament.

"As a host nation, we have made significant strides in ensuring that all facilities meet international standards," said Dr. Yonazi, who also chairs the CHAN and AFCON Permanent Secretaries Committee.

"The government remains committed to delivering a world-class event that reflects the spirit and capability of Tanzania."

During the tour, Dr. Yonazi visited key venues including the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Isamuhyo grounds, the Law School grounds, and Gymkhana Club.

He reiterated that the hosting arrangements are aligned with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requirements.

Also speaking during the tour, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, called on citizens to rally behind the national team.

“We urge all Tanzanians to come out in large numbers and show their patriotism by supporting Taifa Stars,” said Mr. Msigwa.

“Your presence in the stadiums will boost team morale and showcase our unity to the rest of Africa.”

The CHAN tournament, which features national teams composed exclusively of players active in their domestic leagues, is expected to attract thousands of football fans and visitors from across the continent.
