The long-standing rivalry between Morogoro and Dar es Salaam takes center stage once again as Yanga’s boxer Kibwana Shomari prepares to face off against Denis Nkane at the upcoming Dar Boxing Derby. The event is scheduled for July 26, 2025, at the Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Shomari, proudly representing Morogoro, revealed that he has received traditional blessings from local elders, fueling his confidence ahead of the bout.

He is determined to claim a spectacular victory by delivering a technical knockout (TKO) against Nkane in the second round.

“I’m coming to Dar to reclaim my crown. Denis, I will defeat you and your coach. I am a modern fighter well-prepared and backed by the blessings of my chiefs. I’ve trained extensively and am ready to dominate in the ring,” Shomari declared with conviction.

He pledged to represent Morogoro honorably and bring home the championship, promising a celebration shared with his supporters back home.

Fans are equally enthusiastic. Aisha Ramadhani, one of Shomari’s passionate supporters, confirmed that a group of fans from Morogoro is gearing up to travel to Dar es Salaam to rally behind their champion.

The Derby will also feature other compelling fights, including Nassibu Ramadhan seeking revenge against Ibrahim Class, Loren Japhet battling Said Bwanga from Mbagala, and Ramadhan Shauri facing off with Issa Nampepeche.

Additional matchups on the card include Khali Kalama versus Abdullazack Hamais, Hamad Furahisha against Japhet Herman, and James Kibanzange taking on Ismail Boyka.

In the women’s division, Stumai Muki will go head-to-head with Sara Alex, while Debora Mwenda will face Asia Meshack in what promises to be an electrifying contest.

The Dar Boxing Derby is set to draw a vibrant crowd and showcase intense competition as regional pride and personal honor are fiercely contested inside the ring.
