TRA Sports Festival unites Kariakoo tax region, ahead to National Taxpayer week

The TRA sports festival for the Kariakoo  regions was a success, with various sports activities bringing together traders and TRA employees, ahead of Taxpayer week that starts on the next week.

The festival started with the participation of jogging teams from the Ilala and Kariakoo regions, who took part in a short parade before the official commencement of other games.

Speaking at the conclusion, TRA Deputy Commissioner General, Mr. Mcha Hassan Mcha, said that sports are good for health, and this has brought enthusiasm and a reason to come together, collaborate, enjoy, and get to know each other.

"The bonanza fosters good relations between tax stakeholders, taxpayers, and TRA employees. This is a strategic region to bring services closer to all traders in the country and neighboring areas," emphasized the Deputy Commissioner General.

He continued to emphasize that the bonanza improves good relations and strengthens work performance in the Kariakoo tax region and other neighboring areas.

Kariakoo market has had significant success across the country, and in the past six months, the authority has collected Tshs. 71 billion in the Kariakoo tax region, that normally contributes about 60% of the Country's revenue.

"I sincerely thank all traders across the country for their patriotism and dedication; our country is built by Tanzanians themselves, as our commitment builds our nation," said the Deputy Commissioner General.

along with District Commissioner of ilala, representatives from the Regional Commissioner office, the representative of traders from the Kariakoo tax region, Severine Mosha, also expressed gratitude for this collaboration, as it brings people together.

The Bonanza festival is held annually to promote good relations in tax collection and improve customer service for all clients without discriminating against religion, tribe, origin, or status.

This year’s festival was attended by various traders, including bodaboda riders, street vendors (machinga), food vendors (mama ntilie), people with disabilities, special groups, and other small to large traders.
