Dar es Salaam. Police in Dar es Salaam have arrested a housemaid, Clemensia Cosmas
Mirembe, 19, who is accused of gravely injuring her employer's six-year-old,
identified as Malick Hashim, with a sharp object on the neck.
The incident occurred on July 15, 2024, in Goba
Kinzudi, Kinondoni District.
It is alleged that she slit the child's neck with a
sharp object, causing him to have difficulty breathing, speaking, severe pain,
and significant blood loss.
Speaking on Monday, Dar es Salaam Special Police
Zone Commander Jumanne Muliro said that the suspect fled the crime scene after
committing the offense.
After the incident, the police began an immediate
investigation into this brutal act, and on July 21, 2024, at 10 p.m., they
arrested the suspect, who was hiding in an abandoned house in Goba Kinzudi,
Kinondoni District.
"The suspect is being thoroughly interrogated
and will be brought to court as soon as possible for further legal
action," Comander Muliro said.
Furthermore, he urged parents, guardians, teachers,
and the community at large to teach children to develop the habit of walking in
groups and avoid being close to strangers.
He also urged that children should not be sent to
dangerous areas, including various places at night.
