Mbeya City Football Club has stepped up preparations for its Mainland Premier League fixtures following its official return to the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya Region, after the venue was reopened for matches following renovation works.
The stadium had earlier been closed by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to allow rehabilitation and upgrades aimed at improving its standards and match readiness.
After completing the required improvements and meeting inspection conditions, the facility has now been cleared for competitive football, allowing Mbeya City to host home matches again.
The return marks a significant moment for the club, which is now preparing to face Mashujaa on April 30 in what is expected to be a competitive league encounter.
The match will be played at Sokoine Stadium, giving Mbeya City the advantage of home support for the first time in a while.
Club spokesperson Gwamaka Mwankota said the team is in good shape and fully focused on the final phase of preparations ahead of the fixture.
He noted that the squad is motivated to deliver a strong performance as they look to reward their supporters who have waited for the team’s return to their home ground.
Mwankota added that playing at Sokoine Stadium provides an important boost in confidence and performance for the players, given the familiarity of the environment and the energy from home fans.
“We are back at home and fully prepared for the challenge. Our focus is to collect positive results and make sure we give our fans the kind of football they deserve. Every team coming here must be ready for a tough game,” he said.
Mbeya City enter the match with renewed determination, banking on home advantage and strong fan support as they aim to secure maximum points against Mashujaa.
