StarTimes has launched a nationwide promotional campaign offering free subscription upgrades and discounted television sets as it seeks to attract and retain customers ahead of the Eid and Easter festive seasons.
The campaign, dubbed “Lipa Tukubusti”, will run until April 30 and targets both existing and new subscribers using antenna and satellite (dish) decoders.
Speaking during the launch, StarTimes Tanzania Head of Marketing David Malisa said the promotion was introduced following strong customer demand and is designed to enhance viewing experiences during the holiday period.
“We wanted to bring something different for our customers during this festive season,” Malissa said. “Subscribers who pay for their current packages will automatically be upgraded to higher packages at no extra cost.”
Under the offer, customers on lower-tier packages will be upgraded to the next level for a full month, while top-tier subscribers will receive additional viewing days free of charge. The promotion applies to both terrestrial and satellite users, with similar upgrade structures across packages.
The company is also extending the offer to new customers purchasing decoders, allowing them to benefit from the same upgrade incentives.
Malissa said the campaign coincides with the release of new entertainment content, including international drama series and returning shows, as well as a packed schedule of live sports broadcasts.
Among key highlights is the broadcast of a major English football final between Arsenal and Manchester City, alongside Spain’s La Liga fixtures and the Madrid derby featuring Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
In addition to subscription offers, StarTimes announced discounts on 43-inch digital and smart television sets available at its retail outlets in Dar es Salaam, with some prices reduced by nearly half. The televisions come with built-in decoders and include one month of premium subscription access.
Head of Shops, Startimes Tanzania, Isdory John Mnkeni said the company has expanded service availability across multiple locations in the city, including Kariakoo, Buguruni, Mbagala, and Tegeta, to ensure customers can easily access the promotional offers.
He added that stores will operate extended hours during the festive period to meet increased demand.
Meanwhile, the company said its customer service teams will remain fully operational throughout the holiday season to assist subscribers with payments, technical support, and general inquiries.
StarTimes said the campaign forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen customer engagement and expand access to affordable digital entertainment services in Tanzania.
