Dar City’s assistant coach, Mohamed Mbwana, has revealed that the team’s preparations for the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL) are progressing smoothly, with players showing high levels of commitment during training.
The squad is currently camped in Zanzibar, where they continue to train and fine-tune their skills ahead of the continental competition. Dar City is scheduled to depart on March 23 for Pretoria, South Africa, where the BAL season six tournament will run from March 27 to April 5.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Mbwana said the team is preparing to proudly represent Tanzania in the BAL, with the squad’s performance steadily improving thanks to the efforts of both players and the technical bench.
“At present, the team’s cohesion has significantly strengthened, with each player showing dedication since the start of training in January in Dar es Salaam,” Mbwana said.
He explained that the preparations are led by head coach Momodou Gueye, supported by a technical team that includes assistant coaches Nabil
Mbwana added that hosting the training camp in Zanzibar was a strategic move to provide a change of environment and take advantage of indoor facilities, which has boosted both morale and the quality of training for the squad.
He emphasized that the remaining days in Zanzibar will be used to finalize preparations before the team travels to Pretoria to represent Tanzania in the sixth season of the BAL.
