Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, is set to inaugurate major tourism development projects in the country’s southern circuit on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
The projects, valued Tshs. 100 billion (about USD 40 million) have been built in Julius Nyerere, Mikumi, and Ruaha national parks; as well as in the Kilombero Nature Forest Reserve, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
Permanent Secretary Hassan Abbasi inspected the preparations for the launch on Monday and said the projects meet the required standards and are expected to help boost tourist arrivals to southern Tanzania.
The launch ceremony will take place at Julius Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s largest protected wildlife areas, and forms part of the government’s broader strategy to diversify tourism away from the northern circuit and promote conservation-linked economic growth.
