The government, through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, is set to roll out a strong strategy to protect Mabuki Livestock Production Farm in Misungwi from encroachment, aiming to boost productivity and produce high-quality breeding stock that meets market demand.
During a visit to the farm on December 29, 2025, Deputy Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Hon. Ng’wasi Kamani, said the government is committed to stopping trespassers and called on local communities to safeguard this critical public resource.
“We have received several reports of livestock being brought into this farm, spreading diseases to our animals and damaging planted pastures. My appeal to fellow Tanzanians, especially those living near the farm, is to respect this resource, as interference threatens future breeding stock,” Kamani said.
He noted that the Ministry has already started working with security agencies to enhance protection of livestock farms, in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision to improve pastoralists’ livelihoods.
Mabuki Farm Manager, Ms. Lina Mwala, highlighted that over the past five years, the farm’s cattle population has grown from 1,900 to 2,500, despite facing operational challenges.
The Deputy Minister’s visit also included inspections of production activities, discussions with staff, and engagements with the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI), the Livestock Training Agency (TVLA), and the Zonal Veterinary Centre (ZVC).
