The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), through its Community Development Department, has intensified efforts to address water shortages and improve essential infrastructure for local communities within the conservation area.
On September 30, 2025, a team of NCAA experts visited Olpiro village in Eyasi Ward, Ngorongoro District, to inspect ongoing rehabilitation works on the village’s water supply system.
The project has restored access to clean and safe water for both residents and their livestock, a development villagers say has eased years of hardship caused by scarcity.
“The availability of clean water is a major relief to us. For a long time, we struggled with shortages that affected both households and livestock. This support allows us to focus on other priorities while safeguarding our health,” said one resident.
Beyond water supply improvements, NCAA also conducted an assessment of additional community facilities, including a cattle dip, which is crucial for livestock health and productivity in the pastoralist community.
The intervention has been widely welcomed by Olpiro residents, who praised the government and NCAA for investing in projects that directly improve livelihoods.
Community members noted that such initiatives not only uplift their daily lives but also strengthen their resolve to support conservation activities in the Ngorongoro area.
