The Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) has appointed Manuel Esayas as the new head coach of the senior and youth national volleyball teams under a one-year contract.

The appointment, which was made official on July 15, 2025, is part of a broader development initiative supported by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which will fund the coach’s salary and related expenses.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony, TVF’s Director of Administration, Ms. Riziki Godwin, said Coach Esayas will be tasked with three primary responsibilities during his tenure.

“His duties include building both the senior and junior national teams, establishing a youth pipeline through development programs, and offering technical training to local coaches,” she explained.

Ms. Godwin added that Coach Esayas will also play a key role in an FIVB  backed capacity building project aimed at enhancing the skills of national team players while introducing modern coaching methodologies to Tanzanian trainers.

“This initiative is designed to strengthen the technical foundation of volleyball in Tanzania and ensure long-term sustainability through knowledge transfer,” she noted.

In his remarks, Coach Esayas expressed his commitment to transforming the sport in Tanzania, emphasizing the need for collaboration across all levels.

“My vision is to bring lasting change to volleyball in this country. I can’t achieve that alone this will require unity, teamwork, and a shared commitment to progress,” he said.

The federation will assess the impact of his leadership over the course of the year before making a decision on a possible contract extension.
