The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, has announced that the main contractor for the construction of the Arusha football stadium, China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG), has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with Tanzanians by awarding sub-contracts to 14 local companies already involved in the project.

Minister Kabudi made the announcement on March 1, 2025, during his visit to inspect the ongoing construction of the stadium in the Olmoti ward of Arusha.

The stadium, set to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), is a key infrastructure project for the region.

“We have full confidence in the capabilities of Tanzanian engineers and workers. Not only will they complete the construction of this stadium, but they will also play a vital role in the future management and maintenance of such facilities,” said Minister Kabudi.

He further highlighted the project’s positive impact on employment, stating, “So far, the stadium project has created jobs for 1,262 Tanzanians.

The construction company has assured me that by September, the number of workers will increase to between 2,400 and 2,500. This means more opportunities for our people, and the work will progress as planned.”
