The Defense and Security Committee of the National Assembly of Seychelles visited Mikumi National Park in Morogoro, Tanzania. They were impressed by the park and promised to promote it as ambassadors. Mikumi is famous for its “Big Four” animals: lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes.

Vice Chairman of the committee, Fransois Adelaide, spoke during their visit on September 6, 2024. He said, “We are impressed and delighted by the beautiful scenery and the large groups of animals we saw up close. This is what many tourists love about this park.”

Adelaide shared their excitement, saying, “It was our first time seeing lions and leopards. We never thought we would see these animals. When we return home, we will be ambassadors for Mikumi.”

Audrey Vidot, another committee member, said, “We saw animals that we’ve only seen in movies. Tanzanians should be proud of their natural resources.”

David Kadomo, Chief Conservation Officer, thanked the visitors. “We are grateful for your visit. We assure you that we will preserve these resources, not just for Tanzanians but also for other nations,” he said.

Kadomo added, “TANAPA manages 21 national parks with various attractions. We encourage you to visit other parks like Nyerere, Udzungwa, Saadani, Serengeti, Ruaha, and Katavi when you return.”

Mikumi National Park, managed by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), is one of the oldest parks in the country. It celebrated its 60th anniversary on August 31. Despite its age, the park continues to attract many tourists due to ongoing improvements in infrastructure.
