Tanzania is set to strengthen cooperation in housing and infrastructure development following high-level talks between the Deputy Minister for Finance, Eng. Mshamu Ali Munde (MP), and the leadership of Shelter Afrique Development Bank held on the sidelines of the 26th Annual General Meeting of the African Trade and Investment Development Insurance institution ATIDI in Nairobi, Kenya.

The discussions focused on expanding strategic collaboration between Tanzania and Shelter Afrique Development Bank, particularly in investment mobilisation, housing development, and the strengthening of financial resource flows to support key development projects.

Both sides emphasized the importance of unlocking new investment opportunities that can accelerate the delivery of affordable housing and related infrastructure across the country.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to working closely with the bank in identifying and utilising available development opportunities aimed at improving access to quality housing, enhancing the housing sector, and strengthening infrastructure resilience.

He noted that such cooperation will be pursued in line with national laws, procedures, and development priorities, with a strong focus on delivering sustainable economic growth.

On their part, representatives of Shelter Afrique Development Bank expressed their readiness to further deepen cooperation with the Government of Tanzania in financing housing and infrastructure projects.

The bank highlighted Tanzania as a key and strategic partner in advancing its continental mandate of promoting sustainable urban development and expanding access to decent housing across Africa.

Shelter Afrique Development Bank is a pan-African financial institution owned by African governments and development finance institutions, mandated to promote and finance housing and real estate development projects across the continent.

Tanzania is among the founding members of the institution and has continued to actively participate in its activities since its establishment, a partnership that continues to strengthen regional cooperation and contribute to national development goals.

The Tanzanian delegation included Acting Commissioner for Financial Sector Development at the Ministry of Finance, Dionisia Mjema, alongside technical experts from the ministry.
