Tanzania, Belgium review strategic cooperation

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Kingdom of Belgium have held bilateral talks aimed at reviewing the progress of their long-standing cooperation and exploring new areas of strategic partnership for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

The discussions took place on May 22, 2026, at the Ministry’s Sub Offices in Dar es Salaam and were led by Ms. Ellen Maduhu, Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department, and Belgium’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Peter Huyghebaert.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in key sectors including education, trade, agriculture, health, financial institutions, and economic empowerment initiatives targeting youth and women.

The leaders also emphasized the importance of expanding employment opportunities for young people as part of broader efforts to accelerate social and economic development in both countries.

In addition, Tanzania and Belgium agreed to enhance the implementation of ongoing development projects carried out through bilateral cooperation, with the aim of increasing their impact on the livelihoods of citizens in both nations.

The talks reflect the growing diplomatic and development partnership between Tanzania and Belgium, as both countries seek to deepen cooperation in areas that support inclusive growth and sustainable development.
