The Director of Policy and Research at Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), Mwanahamisi Hussein, has emphasized the importance of strengthening policies and creating an enabling environment to enhance the implementation of development projects through the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Mwanahamisi made the remarks yesterday while speaking as one of the panelists during a stakeholders’ conference on PPP that brought together key actors from government, the private sector, and development partners.
During her contribution to the panel discussion, she noted that TPSF will continue advising the government on ways to improve the investment climate and strengthen policies that support private sector participation in development projects.
According to her, closer cooperation between the government and the private sector can significantly improve the efficiency and success of PPP initiatives.
She also urged the government, through the Public Private Partnership Centre (PPPC), to intensify awareness and education on local content issues so that Tanzanians can benefit more from projects implemented under the PPP framework.
In addition, Mwanahamisi called on universities and other academic institutions to introduce more courses and training programs focused on PPP and collaborative development models.
She explained that such initiatives would help produce skilled professionals capable of planning, managing, and supervising large-scale PPP projects.
She further noted that implementing these recommendations would bring several benefits, including improving the investment environment, increasing awareness of local content participation, and building a pool of qualified professionals to manage development projects.
Ultimately, these measures would enhance the efficiency of PPP initiatives and ensure that investments generate greater economic value for the country and its citizens.
