The Government, through the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, has announced the establishment of a TZS 50 billion fund aimed at empowering young people engaged in the creative sector, including content creators, artists, musicians, actors, journalists, influencers, and other creative professionals.

Speaking in Arusha on March 11, 2026, Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Paul Makonda, said the fund is part of the directives of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, aimed at supporting youth economic empowerment through the media, arts, and creative industries.

Minister Makonda explained that the ministry was initially allocated TZS 20 billion, but following discussions with CRDB Bank, the amount was increased to TZS 50 billion to broaden the scope and reach more young beneficiaries.

He added that the ministry is now awaiting the official launch date of the fund. Once launched, the funds will be disbursed to youth within the media, arts, and creative sectors to support the growth of their work and contribute to national economic development.

The ministry plans to officially launch the fund at a special event in the near future, with President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan expected to officiate the ceremony.

The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to create economic opportunities for young people and encourage them to use their talents as a catalyst for Tanzania’s development.
