TANAPA engages Zanzibar stakeholders on investment opportunities

The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has intensified efforts to attract investment and strengthen collaboration in the tourism sector by engaging key stakeholders in Zanzibar.

The engagement took place on January 6, 2026, when a team of conservation and tourism experts from TANAPA, participating in the 12th Zanzibar International Trade Fair (ZITF), held discussions with tourism and transport stakeholders to exchange experiences and map out joint strategies for 2026.

Through a “door-to-door” outreach initiative, the TANAPA team met aviation companies Auric Air Safari and Flightlink, alongside the Zanzibar Association of Tour Operators and Guides (ZATO).

The discussions focused on building stronger partnerships and expanding air transport services, particularly to destinations within Tanzania’s national parks that are yet to be fully served.

During a joint meeting between TANAPA and ZATO, the Eastern Zone Conservation Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Conservation (ACC) John Nyamhanga, urged Zanzibar-based stakeholders to invest in Tanzania’s national parks, citing the wide range of opportunities available in tourism infrastructure and related services.

Auric Air stakeholder and Station Manager at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, Ms Hajla Saleh, outlined practical ways to improve flight connections from Zanzibar to Mikumi and Nyerere national parks, noting that better coordination would enhance accessibility and boost tourist flows to the parks.

TANAPA said the stakeholder engagements form part of its strategy to strengthen cooperation within the tourism and transport sectors, gather feedback from industry players and improve services at airports and across the country’s tourism value chain.
