Dar es Salaam— The Association of Small-Scale Industries and Business Groups of Tanzania (VIBINDO) has commended the Tanzanian government for its proactive approach in engaging with grassroots stakeholders ahead of rolling out its second phase of business environment reforms.
Gaston Kikuwi, Chairman of VIBINDO, welcomed the government’s outreach during a visit by the National Expert Team responsible for drafting the Second Business Environment Improvement Plan (MKUMBI II).
The team met with VIBINDO representatives on June 16 to solicit feedback on regulatory and operational challenges facing small enterprises.
“The presence of this team on the ground allows us to present the realities of our business conditions directly. We’ve offered concrete proposals and believe our input will contribute to reforms that support inclusive economic growth,” Kikuwi said.
The MKUMBI II initiative follows the government’s earlier reform agenda under MKUMBI I, which focused on streamlining business regulations and improving the investment climate.
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa recently commissioned the expert team to assess the outcomes of the initial phase and identify emerging barriers to private sector development.
As part of the review process, the task force has begun consultations with both public and private sector actors to inform the next round of policy interventions.
The government aims to craft a reform blueprint that addresses structural challenges and facilitates long-term private sector growth, particularly for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Tanzania has prioritized private sector engagement as part of its broader economic agenda, recognizing the role of MSMEs in job creation and poverty reduction.
The MKUMBI II plan is expected to align with national development goals and investor expectations, focusing on regulatory predictability, market access, and institutional efficiency.
