The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has commended the Sixth Phase Government and the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) for their efficient oversight in the construction of Msalato International Airport in Dodoma.

This statement was made by Japhet Hasunga, the Deputy Chairperson of PAC, following a site visit and inspection of the project on January 23, 2025, alongside other committee members.

Hasunga called on TANROADS to ensure the timely completion of the airport infrastructure while maintaining the highest quality standards.

“We are pleased to see the remarkable progress of this significant project and would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for this monumental investment.

“To accurately assess the value for money, it is critical that we know the exact completion date. The project must be finished on time, with the expected quality, and become operational. Our target is for it to be completed by July,” Hasunga emphasized.

He further noted, “The airport site spans over 11,000 hectares, so it is essential to reserve space for the development of hotels, conference centers, and shopping malls. This will not only enhance tourism but also stimulate the economic growth of Dodoma.”

Special Seat MP for Ruvuma Region, Jackline Ngonyani, also lauded the efforts of the Sixth Phase Government and TANROADS for their excellent management of the project.

In presenting the project’s progress report, TANROADS Chief Executive Engineer Mohamed Besta informed the committee that the project is currently 84% complete.

He assured that the contractor will be closely monitored to ensure it is finished on schedule and to the highest standards.
