Segerea MP Bonnah Kamoli has reinforced her commitment to delivering on the promised infrastructure projects within her constituency, urging contractors to complete ongoing road and bridge constructions on schedule.
Among the major projects underway is the construction of the Rozana-Sukita-Buguruni road, a 500-meter stretch expected to cost Sh750 million. The road is being constructed by Southern Link, a Tanzanian construction company.
As well, the 350-meter Faru Road in Mnyamani Ward, which is estimated to cost Sh499 million, and the 500-meter Magengeni-KKKT Road in Liwiti Ward, with a construction cost of Sh650 million, are also progressing.
Kamoli also inspected two critical bridge projects: the Kavesu Bridge, being built for Sh317.6 million, and the Kwa Mzava Bridge, which is estimated at Sh244.8 million. These bridges are crucial in enhancing access within the district and ensuring residents can move safely during the rainy seasons.
The funds for these projects are sourced from the Dar es Salaam City Council’s internal revenue, independent of the second phase of the Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP). All roads under construction will be paved with tarmac and will include drainage systems and street lighting.
MP Kamoli emphasized the importance of timely completion, stating, "We expect contractors to finish these projects on time. Residents are eager to see passable roads."
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Mayor Omary Kumbilamoto noted that the road projects are part of a Sh10 billion budget, funded through agreements between the city and contractors. The funds come entirely from the city's internal revenue collection, underscoring the government's commitment to improving infrastructure with local resources.
